FT. WORTH, Texas – When you think of police officers, you probably associate them with crime fighting and traffic stops.

However, police officers are often the first ones on the scene of emergencies.

When authorities in Fort Worth saw smoke coming from a home, they immediately jumped into action.

The officers started banging on the door to the home, trying to wake up residents who were asleep.

After kicking down the door and getting the family outside, one of the residents told them the family dog was still inside the house.

As the officer’s body camera was rolling, he rushed into the home and began searching for the pup.

Fortunately, everyone was able to make it out safely and firefighters arrived on the scene seconds later.
