(Oklahoma City)

The morning after the sting of realizing the Oklahoma City Thunder won’t be in the NBA Playoffs for the first time in six years, a report has surfaced questioning the future of Thunder head coach Scott Brooks.  According to Yahoo Sports pro basketball writer Adrian Wojnarowski, Brooks job performance will be evaluated more closely in the coming days before the organization commits to him fully for the final years of his contract.

The report says league sources “have doubts” about Brooks job security in Oklahoma City.  According to his current contract, the Thunder head coach is guaranteed the next season (2015-16), but general manager Sam Presti must decide if he wants to bring back Brooks to be the coach in the the final year of superstar Kevin Durant’s current Thunder agreement before committing to Brooks option year (2016-17) going forward.

The Yahoo Sports report indicates NBA sources feel like Brooks could be let go and that current Florida University head coach Billy Donovan could become a serious candidate to replace Brooks as Thunder head coach.  The report cites Presti’s close relationship with Donovan and the fact that Donovan, who has guided Florida to a pair of national championships in the past, has a strong desire to coach at the next level.

Scott Brooks will meet the media today (Thursday) at 10:30am as part of his normal year-end “exit” interview after each season comes to a close.
