Westbrook won the monthly NBA Cares Community Assist Award in October, qualifying him as a finalist for the season-long honor.

The league honored the Thunder player in the fall for opening his first Russell’s Reading Room at an Oklahoma City public school. Since then, Westbrook’s foundation has completed and dedicated two more of the reading centers in the Oklahoma City metro, giving area elementary students at high-poverty schools access to thousands of books and personally inspiring them to find a passion for reading.
