UPDATE: Highway back open after container brings traffic to a halt

UPDATE: Officials say I-44 southbound to I-40 westbound is back open.


OKLAHOMA CITY – Traffic is backed up after a container box fell off a semi on I-40 Tuesday afternoon.

Initial reports indicate the incident happened in the westbound lanes of I-40 near the I-44 ramp.

Officials say the container is completely blocking the roadway.

There are several cars stuck on the bridge.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is on the scene.

Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route.

Bob Moore Chopper 4 pilot Jon Welsh is on scene and says it appears traffic could be backed up for the next hour or so.
