Often times, children want to help in the kitchen.

It can be tough to find a recipe that will be delicious that doesn't require a lot of adult supervision.

Basic Chocolate Truffles may be just the recipe to try.

You will need the following:

  • 1/3 cup of heavy cream
  • 6 tablespoons of butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. They may be dark, semi-sweet, milk or white, but make sure they are not chocolate flavored.
  • Cocoa powder, confectioner's sugar orĀ chopped nuts for garnish.

Start by bringing heavy cream to a simmer in a small saucepan. Stir in butter until melted. Stir in chocolate chips and continue to stir until totally melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.IMG_6622 chocolate

Once that is done, let it cool, cover it and refrigerate it until firm, which usually takes two hours. Using a melon baller or a spoon, scoop mixture into small balls and roll in nuts, cocoa powder or confectioner's sugar.

Truffles will keep for up to two weeks in an airtight container under refrigeration.
