Royals announce name of newborn princess

LONDON – After the Internet went crazy over the new little princess, it soon learned her name.

The little girl came into the world at 8:34 a.m. (12:34 a.m. PT) Saturday at London’s St. Mary’s Hospital, Kensington Palace announced. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces.

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well,” the palace tweeted.

On Monday, officials announced that little royal was named Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.

The child’s middle name of Diana is in honor of William’s late mother and the name Elizabeth is in honor of William’s grandmother, the queen.

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is fourth in line to the throne after her grandfather, her father and her brother.

She will be called Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.
