OKLAHOMA CITY — A man threatened officers with a knife, but was tasered and detained Friday, May 8.

Around 2:20 p.m., an officer with a taser was called in for backup at a liquor store on N.W. 63rd and Meridian.

When the backup officer arrived on scene, reports say 22-year-old Dawson Lee was sitting on a railroad tie planter, holding a knife and yelling at officers to stay away from him.

Police say they calmly told Lee to put his knife down several times. But when he refused, the backup officer says he snuck up behind Lee and tasered him in the back.

That’s when Lee fell to the ground, and reports say when he was ordered to drop the knife, he finally did.

Dawson Lee was handcuffed, and no one was seriously injured in the event.
