OKLAHOMA CITY - A man is in the hospital after being shot multiple times in northwest Oklahoma City early Monday morning.

Police said they believe this started as a robbery at an apartment complex along N.W. 6th St. in the London Square Village Apartments,  near Council Rd.

Folks nearby said the violence needs to stop.

"I was lying there asleep with my daughter and I heard the shots going off, and it was loud," said Sean Gipson.

Sean Gipson said he heard six to seven gunshots, an unsettling sound for him and his family.

"My daughter is only 15-years-old, I have two grand babies in the house and they run across this street right here all the time," said Gipson.

Police said the call came in just before 4:30 a.m. on Monday from the apartment unit.

When officers got to the scene, a man was lying on the floor with gunshot wounds to both legs and to the left arm.

Fortunately, police said he's going to survive.

"There are always shootings around here," said Juliana Tovar.

With a lot of families living here, scared residents are taking extra security measures.

"We just put the couch in front of the door and lock it," said Tovar.

For Gipson, he hopes police step in to help keep the crime outside of these gates.

"With the kids outside and the shootings going on, I'm just hoping that law enforcement can clean it up over here, quiet it down because the community really belongs to the children," said Gipson.

Police are searching for three black men in connection to this assault with a deadly weapon.
