OKLAHOMA CITY - NewsChannel 4 is kicking off a program that will honor the heroes among us. Specifically, those who step in and help fellow Oklahomans during times of severe weather.

Earlier this month we told you about a man named Cory Scalf.

He is an Oklahoma Natural Gas technician who was on duty after the May 6th tornado.

He heard faint cries for help from a woman trapped under tornado debris.

She had been trapped under the debris for four hours before Cory came along.

His quick action led to her rescue.

Cory visited our 4Warn Storm Center where KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan presented him with our first Weather Hero Award.

Although he may not want to call himself a hero, we certainly think he is.
