Police: Man arrested after hospital believed he was selling drugs from room

OKLAHOMA CITY – A 63-year-old man is facing several drug charges after an aggressive outburst at a local hospital.

On May 18, officers were called to St. Anthony’s Hospital after an incident with a patient.

According to the arrest affidavit, a nurse discovered a glass pipe while checking on 63-year-old Wayne Woods.

Security officers say Woods grabbed an IV pole and started lunging at the security officer before hitting one person with the pole.

Witnesses say Woods also ripped out two medical devices that were attached to the wall.

Authorities say they also discovered several bags with what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine, prescription pills, marijuana and a digital scale.

“It should also be noted that the medical staff advised me that [Woods] has had several visitors throughout his stay, most of whom did not identify has family and stayed for very short periods of time. They believed that [Woods] was possibly continuing to distribute narcotics to those individuals while in the hospital,” the report alleges.

Woods was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on medical care providers, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Woods was also arrested for destruction of a private room and assault and battery.
