MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- A metro man was left baffled after his car was burgarized overnight.
It's an odd situation, where the criminal cleaned and organized the man's truck, stole five dollars in change, and left most of it behind.
"I guess they did me a service," said Cory Wells, owner of the vehicle.
Cory woke up, to find his truck cleaned out.
"My dash was pretty dirty...napkins, wrappers, receipts," said Wells. "They put them in their pockets, took it with them, and politely disposed of it."
A freshly cleaned, freshly organized Chevy, with nothing missing except for a bag of change.
"Maybe about four dollars in change, a bunch of pennies and dimes," explained Wells.
The penny mystery lasted just a few minutes, however. In front of Cory's home, a trail of change that led down the road!
Of the estimated four dollars lost, almost half was left behind.
The trail ultimately led to a home down the street, but the people inside told NewsChannel 4 they were unaware of how it got there.
The penny bandit remains at large, and while Cory's out a few bucks, he says the burglar helped recover long lost tools.
"I kind of want to thank them for helping me find a few things," says Cory.
However, he says he will soon be adding more security.
Midwest City police did look into the matter, and would like to remind everyone to lock their car doors at all times.
