Authorities searching for inmate who was seen running from prison, jumping into truck

MCALESTER, Okla. – Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped an Oklahoma correctional facility.

Officials say Ronald Thomas Jr. escaped from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester Monday afternoon.

Teri Watkins of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections told the McAlester News-Capital that Thomas was seen running from the prison and jumping into a white pickup truck.

Thomas is described as a 6’1″, 275-pound white male with brown hair and brown eyes.

He also has tattoos, including a cross and sun on his left shoulder, a bird on his right shoulder and multiple tattoos on his left forearm.

Thomas has a lengthy criminal history, but he was most recently serving time for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Police say he is believed to be armed and dangerous, according to KOKI.
