Jury selection begins for Edmond man accused of sexually abusing Kenyan orphans

EDMOND, Okla. – The case against an Oklahoma man accused of sexually abusing children during a mission trip to Kenya is moving forward.

Jury selection is underway in the trial against 20-year-old Matthew Durham of Edmond.

He is charged in federal district court with two dozen counts of molesting Kenyans orphans on a mission trip.

The Oklahoma City courtroom is sealed until the jury is seated.

The Kenyan orphans are currently in Oklahoma City and will testify against Durham.

Prosecutors will have to prove whether Durham sexually abused the children and whether he traveled to Kenya with the intention to do so.

Opening statements are expected to begin Wednesday.
