Update: Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Norman, victim identified

NORMAN, Okla. — A pedestrian was walking down 48th Avenue in Norman when they were hit by a car Sunday afternoon.

Members of the Norman Police Department, Norman Fire Department, and EMSSTAT responded to the 4500 block of 48th Ave. around 12:18 p.m.

The person was reportedly struck by a 2002 Saturn L100 as they were walking down 48th from Franklin Rd.

Authorities say the victim, later identified as 81-year-old Amy Lee Moore, was transported to Norman Regional Hospital and later declared deceased.

On Tuesday, officers identified the driver as 72-year-old Ellen Parnell.

As a result of the accident, 48th Ave. N.E. was closed between the 4800 and 4400 blocks.

The collisions is still under investigation.
