OKLAHOMA CITY - Police have arrested two people in connection to a drive-by shooting in S.E. Oklahoma City.
Four victims are still recovering in the hospital, including a 5-year-old little boy.
The shooting happened during a birthday party Saturday night and a lot of people were celebrating in front of their home.
A birthday banner still hangs from the home where the shooting interrupted a big family gathering.
Blood stains cover the front porch.
The drive-by happened Saturday just before midnight in the 500 block of S.E. 69th Street.
“There was at least 15-20 people in the yard when we pulled up, and that was 5 minutes before it happened. There were kids right there at the street when we came around the corner,” neighbor Brock Maddux said.
Maddux had just gotten home when he heard gunshots.
“I made it inside, shut the door, was getting ready for bed and heard a couple of pops. It was a pretty good size gun, it was loud,” Maddux said.
Four people were shot – a 70-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man, a 19-year-old man, and a 5-year-old boy.
All the victims are Hispanic.
Paramedics rushed them to the hospital while crime scene investigators and the gang unit worked the scene overnight.
Less than 24 hours later, police arrested Donald Joe Walters, 23, and Patrick Solis, 27.
We don’t know who the intended target was or the events leading up to the shooting, but it has rattled nerves in this neighborhood.
Across the street is Rutherford B. Hayes Elementary.
People who live in the area tell us they aren’t used to seeing this kind of violent crime.
“This neighborhood’s pretty quiet. That’s the first time we’ve ever had something happen here since I’ve lived here,” Maddux said.
Both Walters and Solis have rap sheets.
Solis is a sex offender and has a possession of a firearm conviction.
We also found he’s being sued by a bail bondsman for not paying the last time he got arrested.
As for the victims, we’re told they remain in the hospital in stable condition.
