A CNN anchor is facing backlash after she called a man who opened fire on a Dallas police station “courageous and brave.”

“It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff,” Fredricka Whitfield said while speaking to legal analyst Philip Holloway.

James Boulware allegedly drove up to a Dallas police station armed with explosives and opened fire on officers over the weekend.

He was killed inside his van after being shot by a police sniper.

Fortunately, no one else was injured in the attack.

Whitfield later said she “misspoke” when she called the gunman “courageous and brave.”

“I misspoke, and in no way believe the gunman was courageous, nor brave,” she said.
