LOS ANGELES — A California man says he lost his appetite after biting into a chicken tender from KFC.

Security guard Devorise Dixon says he bought a 3-piece box of tenders at a KFC in Los Angeles, but it was not what he was expecting.

Dixon told a LA radio station that the “tender” tasted “hard and rubbery.”

“It was very nasty,” he said. “I spit it out. I looked down at my hand and I realized that it was in the shape of a rat with a tail and everything in it.”

Dixon posted a video of the chicken tender to his Facebook page and then put it in the freezer.

He said he later returned to the restaurant with photos and his receipt.

“The manager actually freaked out, confirmed that it was a rat,” Dixon said. “She apologized for it. They actually just offered me a free meal.”

Dixon says he declined the offer and hired a lawyer.

Although KFC doubts Dixon’s claims, they are willing to work with him to figure out what happened.

“Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape. And we currently have no evidence to support Dixon’s claim,” the restaurant said in a statement.

KFC says Dixon is not returning their calls.

“We have made various attempts to contact him, but he is refusing to either talk to us personally or through a lawyer. Nor has he come forth with the chicken piece in question for verification,” KFC told CNN.

The restaurant offered to have the chicken piece tested at an independent lab free of charge.
