MIDLOTHIAN, Texas – A firefighter is being credited with taking down an attempted robber with his bare hands until police arrived.

On June 26, officers were called to a Midlothian gas station after a man attempted to rob the clerk.

Fortunately, Daniel Gaskey was there.

Security video from the gas station shows Gaskey standing at the counter when a man, who was wearing a ski mask, walks into the store.

The man shoved Gaskey aside and demanded money from the clerk.

When he pulled out a knife, Gaskey jumped into action. He forced the man to the ground and held him until police arrived moments later.

Gaskey is a former Marine and has been with the Mansfield Fire Department for over a year.

Authorities say Dylan Bearden was arrested for aggravated robbery.
