Police: Homeowner shoots, kills suspect who was allegedly trying to steal vehicle

OKLAHOMA CITY – One man is dead after he allegedly tried to steal a vehicle in southwest Oklahoma City.

According to Oklahoma City police, shortly after 1 p.m. police were notified of a shooting near SW 79th and Villa.

Authorities say a suspect was trying to steal a vehicle out of a driveway when the homeowner saw what was going on and confronted the suspect.

According to Oklahoma City police, the homeowner stepped into the roadway and demanded the suspect stop.

That is when the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Jacob Jarvis, accelerated toward the homeowner.

The homeowner fired into the vehicle, killing Jarvis.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

The district attorney will review the case and determine if the shooting was justified.

This is not the first time Jarvis has been accused of stealing a vehicle.

He served time in prison in 2013 for larceny of an automobile and operating a chop shop.
