Charles Land

OKLAHOMA CITY – Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

On Thursday, officials say 66-year-old Charles Land was found unresponsive in his cell at the center.

Around 9 p.m., Land’s cellmate told guards that Land was not breathing.

Officers immediately began CPR, but Land was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Land was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center just three days earlier for a warrant for failure to appear on charges related to a DUI/transporting an open container case.

His cause of death will be determined by the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the case.
