GRAVES COUNTY, KY — On a back country road in Graves County, Kentucky sits “A Small World Farm” run by Jeannie McAlpin and her husband.

Eight years ago, McAlpin started with chickens.

Then came the goats, the cows and Hamlet, the miniature pig who has become quite the attraction. The McAlpins open their farm to school groups and birthday parties to get kids outdoors.

Every animal on the farm has a purpose except for Hamlet, and as McAlpin explains why as she gives tours around the farm.

“I’d say he is the cute part of the farm, and he acquired a friend last year when somebody no longer wanted their duck,” said McAlpin.

Perry, the duck, is Hamlet’s best friend.

“They sleep together. They eat together. If they get separated, the duck gets real anxious,” said McAlpin.

Even a female duck can’t separate the bond between the two.

One may be covered in mud while the other is covered in feathers, but Hamlet and Perry don’t see their differences, only their friendship.
