Former President Jimmy Carter is diagnosed with cancer.

WASHINGTON – A former president of the United States revealed that he has cancer.

On Wednesday, former President Jimmy Carter told CNBC that he has cancer, adding that it was discovered during his recent liver surgery.

“Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body,” Carter said in a statement.

Carter says he will undergo treatment.

He says a more complete public statement will be made next week.

Carter had surgery earlier this month to remove a small mass in his liver.

President Barack Obama sent a message to Carter that he and the first lady are ‘rooting’ for his speedy recovery.
