PIQUA, Ohio - A trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol was honored on Thursday for saving a semi-truck driver's life.

According to the patrol, Trooper Eric Devers of the Piqua Post arrived 12 minutes before paramedics at a crash scene in Miami County  earlier this year.

The video shows Devers running past the highway barrier to get to the crashed truck, where the driver was taking low, gasping breaths.

"Keep breathing," Devers said on the recording. "Don't you die. Don't you die on me. Come on. Open your eyes."

Devers can also be heard counting out chest compressions, while giving instructions to a passerby.

The driver was taken to an area hospital and made a full recovery.

According to the patrol, Devers' actions saved the man's life.
