Fire crews quickly put out apartment flames in NW Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY — Fire crews worked for about an hour Wednesday night to put out a fire in northwest Oklahoma City.

There was an apartment fire at at the Lakewood Lake Apartments in the 7800 block of Lyrewood Lane, near Wilshire and N.W. Expressway.

The fire started around 8:30 p.m., officials say. Fire crews say heavy smoke was visible from all sides of the building when they arrived.

The fire was reported to be knocked down at 8:59 p.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

One person is being transported to an area hospital for smoke inhalation.
