SACO, Maine – A mother of five has died after she was viciously attacked inside a Maine supermarket.

Officials say 59-year-old Wendy Boudreau was rushed to a nearby hospital after she was stabbed while shopping for groceries.

Police were called to the Saco Shaw on Wednesday after shoppers reported hearing shouting and then seeing a lot of blood.

“As I walked towards the frozen food section, there was police caution tape in one of the aisles. I looked down the aisle and there was a massive pool of blood with the lady’s purse lying next to it, almost in the pool,” Colin Esposito told WCSH.

Authorities arrested 31-year-old Connor MacCalister for murder.

At this time, they say it does not appear that the two women knew each other.
