DES MOINES, Iowa- After adding another member to her family, ToiAne Johnson says she was handed an unwelcome surprise.

Johnson was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, just hours before giving birth to a healthy baby boy.

While she was in labor, thieves were also hard at work.

WHO-TV says a burglar stole several of the items she needs for her new bundle of joy.

Authorities say the thief stole baby clothes, toys, a bassinet and car seat.

"Here I am about to bring something good into the world and something bad has happened to me. How can this happen?" Johnson said.

The burglar also made off with a flatscreen television, DVD player, a bicycle and a queen-sized bed.

"Really, the only way I can push forward is with God, continue my faith in God and know that everything is gonna be alright," she said.

Johnson says she will not be returning to the home and will find somewhere else to live.
