Taco Bell’s new taco shell is definitely ‘outside the bun’

Is Taco Bell off their rocker, or have they reinvented a taco that’s here to stay?

It’s called the Naked Chicken Taco.

Taco Bell has removed the crunchy shell that we all know and love – with or without the Dorito fairy dust – and replaced it with…

Fried chicken.

A thin piece of deep fried chicken surrounds a bed of lettuce, tomato, and cheese, and is drizzled with avocado ranch sauce.

There is, of course, no need to add meat inside. Unless you just want extra chicken, or possibly a meaty taco medley.

It’s not quite as hardy as a KFC’s Double Down, so maybe there’s a higher chance of success than it seems.

The ‘naked’ taco has been spotted in two southern California locations, including Bakersfield and Lost Hills.

It’s reportedly selling for $2.99 for a single taco, and $4.99 for a combo.
