Putnam City High School

OKLAHOMA CITY — Police say several parents called Putnam City Schools to say a student had a gun on campus at Putnam City High School.

Parents who knew the name of the student gave officials his name.

School officials then located the student outside the football stadium, where he was allegedly attending gym class, and took him into custody.

Police say a backpack that appears to belong to the student was found in the bushes outside the stadium. They say they found a loaded handgun inside the backpack.

While Putnam City Police were taking the student back to the main campus, police say he took off running. Police caught up with him a couple of blocks away.

The student is currently being questioned by police.

There were no known threats made by the student.
