OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City man is accused in the brutal murder of a 2-year-old child.

Earlier this month, Oklahoma City Police were called to the 1400 block of NE 39th after someone called 911 saying a 2-year-old was not breathing.

EMSA officials immediately rendered aid to 2-year-old Shaleah Cudjo and transported her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Medical staff found that the toddler had sustained internal injuries that displayed evidence of sexual assault.

Police say the child lost a large amount of blood.

“They told me by the time I got here, she was already dead and there was nothing I could do. She had lost too much blood,” Shaleah’s mother, Keah Cudjo, said.

Investigators later found out the suspect, Justin Lawson, 22, had been home with Shaleah and left the home shortly after police were called.

Lawson has since been arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and rape.

This is Oklahoma City’s 57th homicide of 2015.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help pay for the burial service of baby Shaleah.
