LAWTON, Okla. — One man was killed following a shooting in Lawton Wednesday night.

Police responded to the call of “shots fired” in the 2200 block of NW Pollard around 8:10 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a man lying in the road with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to EMSA.

Witnesses said there were two people arguing with the victim before the shooting. Once the gun went off, both suspects took off running.

Bystanders at a nearby apartment complex saw two people that fit the suspects’ description and tried to detain them, officials say. The male suspect was caught, but the female kept running and was able to get away.

Officers say they received a tip about who the female suspect might have been, so they went to her house. She wasn’t there when they arrived, but police say a short time later, the girl was brought home by one of her parents.

The female suspects’ parents took her to the station with police, where authorities say several witnesses were interviewed.

Because the girl is a juvenile, she was placed in the Comanche County Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of public homicide.

Based on information police received during the interviews, the male suspect was not arrested.

The body of Jeremy Jacobs, 39, has been taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City.
