ELK CITY, Okla. — An assisted living center in Elk City was left in ashes after it succumbed to massive flames on Tuesday.

The assisted living center was next to the First Baptist Church in the 1600 block of W. Country Club Blvd.

The building was reportedly brand new, and unoccupied.

Police said the building is a total loss, but no injuries have been reported.

No other structures caught fire, but there was a very strong wind reportedly blowing embers into a neighborhood. Police had evacuated all the homes north of the building, but those people are now allowed back in their homes.

Elk City Fire asked for Mutual Aid from all surrounding communities.

KKZU News Director Jared Atha submitted this video of the blaze.
