CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – A Georgia attorney is facing charges for leaving her small children alone inside a car during a case.

Kimberly Bandoh was taken into custody outside the courthouse on Thursday morning.

Authorities say she was inside the Riverdale Municipal Courthouse handling a case as her 2-year-old and 3-year-old children sat inside the family’s car in the parking lot.

“It’s not hot today, probably the children would have been okay, but I don’t think the law gives that level of discretion to our police officers,” Scott Wood, the Riverdale city manager told WSB.

An officer spotted the children and Bandoh was arrested.

Investigators say the children were in the car for about 30 minutes and did not need to be treated by medical personnel.

Bandoh said she thought she was just going to go inside the courthouse for just a minute.

Bandoh is a former magistrate judge for Clayton County.
