2 taken to hospital after car crashes into Oklahoma River

Officials say a car crashed into the Oklahoma River Sunday night.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Emergency crews rushed to the Oklahoma River Sunday night after a car crashed into the water.

Around 6 p.m., police say a vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop in the nook of the Oklahoma River.

Two women who were in the car were able to make it out of the vehicle.

Officials say they were taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

Divers with the Oklahoma City Fire Department had to get in the water to hook the submerged vehicle to tow it out.

Some of the vehicle’s fluids and fuel got into the water, but firefighters were able to contain the spill.
