HOUSTON – A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after police discovered his pregnant mother dead inside their home.

A neighbor told KPRC that he went to go check on Nita Moseley, 33, and her teenage son because he hadn’t seen them in a few days.

“Saturday morning, when I drove by and I saw the door open, that’s when I figured something was wrong,” the man said. “I thought maybe someone had broken in the house or something, and that’s when I found the unfortunate event that happened.”

The man says he found Moseley’s body on the kitchen floor.

Police believe her body had been inside the house for several days.

Moseley’s 14-year-old boy and her car were missing from the home.

On Sunday, authorities found the teen and the car in Houston.

KPRC reports the teen was cooperative during the interrogation.

He has since been charged with first-degree murder.

“My son is a good kid who was dealt a bad deck of cards,” the teen’s father told KPRC. “This is a story that will let people know that families need to stick together. When they don’t, this is the kind of thing that takes place.”
