American Airlines pilot dies suddenly while in flight

PHOENIX, Ariz. – In a terrifying turn of events, an American Airlines flight had to be diverted when the pilot suddenly died behind the controls.

An American Airlines official confirmed to CNN that the pilot of a commercial jet died while flying from Phoenix to Boston.

The flight, which had 147 passengers on board at the time, was diverted to New York.

Fortunately, the co-pilot landed the jet safely.

The airline did not specify a cause of death, simply saying the pilot died from “an illness.”
