Lawton PD: 1 man killed in officer-involved shooting

LAWTON, Okla. — One man was killed in an officer involved shooting on Monday.

Officers were dispatched to SW Sheridan Rd. near the Great Plains Coliseum around 4:53 p.m.

Multiple calls reported a man walking down the street and waving a handgun at passing cars.

When officers arrived at the scene, there was “a brief encounter with the suspect being shot,” according to Lawton PD.

The suspect was transported to Comanche County Memorial hospital where he later died, officials say.

The suspect has not been identified at this time.

According to officials,the officer involved in the reported shooting will be placed on administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated by OSBI.
