Robbery suspect shot following alleged altercation with police officer

MARIETTA, Okla. — One man was shot by a Lighthorse Police officer Sunday night.

A Lighthorse officer was pursuing two robbery suspects in Marietta when the driver of the suspect vehicle crashed on l-35.

Reports say the driver, 20-year-old Anthony Walker, took off and the officer began chasing him.

When the Lighthorse officer caught up with Walker, he¬†allegedly began fighting the officer. That’s when police say the officer shot the suspect twice.

Other officers came in for back up and it reportedly took four officers to arrest Walker.

Officials say Anthony Walker is from McKinney, Texas, so he was transported to a hospital in Plano, Texas.

The officer was treated at a local hospital for injuries to his face.

OSBI is investigating the incident, and the district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified. The Marietta Police Department is handling the robbery investigation, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is working the traffic incident.
