STILLWATER, Okla. — A man was killed during a confrontation with an alleged friend Saturday night.

Police responded to the 100 block of W. Tyler around 8:30 p.m.

When police arrived, they found 31-year-old William Rivers with a stab wound to his upper left chest.

Kendell Paul Sparrow, 40, was trying to help Rivers with his wounds, according to police.

River was taken to Stillwater Medical Center, then transferred to OU Medical Center where he later died.

Police believe Rivers and Sparrow were “long-time acquaintances” and “friends who had gotten into a brief verbal and physical confrontation.”

Kendell Sparrow is being held for second-degree murder, as well as possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
