HOUSTON – A Texas mother is accused of stabbing her two-month-old baby to death.

Rochelle Brown, 28, is charged with capital murder in the stabbing death of her 2-month-old son Levi Thornton-Smith.

Brown’s sister told police that she was asleep in her bedroom when Brown woke her up screaming and yelling.

According to KPRC, Brown then threw the baby on the bed and returned with a knife.

“She (Brown’s sister) stated she tried to stop her, but the defendant was too strong,” prosecutors said.

A neighbor says that he could hear Brown’s sister screaming for her to stop.

“I heard a woman screaming saying ‘Stop.’ She was crying out to stop,” Guillermo Trevino told KPRC.

Another neighbor says Brown’s sister ran to a neighbor for help.

The neighbor told KPRC that he rushed over to find Brown stabbing the baby.

The mother’s hands were reportedly covered in blood and kept repeating, “I need Jesus.”

Brown’s two other children were also in the apartment at the time of the stabbing.  They were not hurt.

When Houston police arrived to the apartment around 2 a.m., they found knives and an infant boy with multiple stab wounds.

Brown was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

She is being held without bond.

Her other children have been placed with an aunt.
