MOWEAQUA, Ill. — It wasn’t just another run of the mill trip to the gas station for one Illinois woman.

Ashton Seaton was on her way to the hospital with her family to deliver a baby when she requested to stop by a convenience store.

They pulled over at Casey’s, and it didn’t take long before the labor pains kicked in.

Ashton started giving birth inside the store’s bathroom.

One of Ashton’s family members notified a Casey’s employee about the situation, and they jumped into action.

Casey’s General Store Manager Tonya Smith dialed 911 while another employee, Shannon Blackwell, gathered towels and made her way to the bathroom.

Smith says she tried to keep Ashton calm and helped control her breathing.

“At first, we told her to stop pushing until the ambulance arrived,” Blackwell said.

But the ambulance still hadn’t arrived and the baby’s head was crowning.

So Blackwell helped deliver the baby right there in the bathroom.

Medical personnel arrived on scene about 10 minutes later, transporting Ashton and her newborn baby girl, named Mia, to a local hospital.

The pair is healthy, and once they were released from the hospital, they stopped by Casey’s to see their hometown heroes.

Ashton and her boyfriend even marked “Casey’s” as the place of birth on Mia’s birth certificate.

“We don’t deliver pizzas (at this location,) we just deliver babies,” Tonya Smith laughed.
