TULSA, Okla. – A former Tulsa County sheriff’s deputy was sentenced to serve eight years in prison for one count of battery and one count of indecent exposure.

In Sept. 2014, Gerald Nuckolls, 27, resigned from his deputy duties after he was arrested and charged with on-duty sexual battery.

Although Nuckolls allegedly admitted he had inappropriate interactions with women, he insists that the interactions were consensual and did not believe it was a crime, the Tulsa World reports.

However, one of his alleged victims claims the interaction was unwanted.

Today, a judge sentenced Nuckolls serve eight years imprisonment for sexual battery and  indecent exposure.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Nuckolls attorney plans to appeal.
