NORMAN, Okla. - A Norman police officer made an unusual transport Tuesday morning.

Officer Kyle Canaan was seen hauling a miniature donkey in his car.

The loving donkey, nicknamed 'Squishy,' was found in a dangerous place Tuesday morning.

Robin Strader said she was on her way to work when she saw him roaming along 120th Avenue N.E.

"If I hadn't gotten him off the road, yeah, he could have definitely been killed," Strader said.

A short time later, Canaan rolled up on the unusual sight.

Strader told the officer she could keep the donkey on her property.

The only problem was how to get him there.

"She said, 'Well, no, it won't fit in my car,'" Canaan said. "And, I was like, 'Eh, it may fit in my car.'"

So, with a little pushing and pulling and some animal feed they got him loaded up.

"It was a perfect fit," Canaan said. "I was able to shut both doors. I rolled the window down for it."

"I was told today that I actually had the chance to shove somebody else's ass into the back of a patrol car, and there he is," Strader said.

Squishy was only in police custody for about four miles.

Canaan was happy to help but not so pleased with the evidence he left behind.

"It used the bathroom in the back of my police car - number two,” Canaan said. "I mean, I must have got it right after breakfast, because there was a lot.”

The donkey may be a lot to handle, but the Straders said they do not mind having him around.

If he belongs to you, call the Norman Police Department.

They are asking for proof of ownership.

If no one claims the donkey, then the Straders plan to adopt him.
