Arkansas State University still on lockdown following active shooter situation

ARKANSAS — Police took a man at Arkansas State University into custody Thursday after the suspect allegedly drove onto campus with a weapon and crashed his car.

No shots were fired, and there were no reports of any injuries.

The school remained on lockdown.

A spokesman said that the man drove onto campus and crashed his vehicle into a barrier. He described the suspect as a white male.

A green pickup parked on grass was believed to be related to the incident.

Arkansas State University is in Jonesboro, roughly 70 miles northwest of Memphis, Tennessee.
