Baker Mayfield Collects Awards, Sooners Reap Rewards

Oklahoma's football team continues its preparations for the Orange Bowl against Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinal on New Year's Eve at 3:00 in Miami.

But many of the Sooner individuals have a few more awards than when they started after a month full of receiving all kinds of awards.

OU quarterback Baker Mayfield was busier than anybody else, receiving All-America honors, Big 12 offensive player of the year, and the Burlsworth Trophy as the nation's top walk-on.

He was also a finalist for various national player of the year honors and was a busy man, making appearances at several events.

Mayfield says he got some advice from a long-time football coach on how to handle all the attention.

For first year offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley, Mayfield's play has sparked the new look Sooner offense, but it's been a team effort that's brought them this far.
