WESTON, Fla. – A woman and her son were taken on a wild ride after allegedly being kidnapped by a man.

The woman told police that she was trying to teach her son how to drive a standard when they were approached by an armed man.

The man, who was identified as 44-year-old Jorge Almeida, allegedly jumped in the car and forced them to drive to a remote area.

At that point, investigators say he began asking the woman about her finances.

A struggle ensued and the son was shot in the leg, according to WPLG.

A passerby saw the struggle and ran to help detain Almeida until police arrived.

Almedia is facing armed carjacking and armed kidnapping charges.

Fortunately, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening conditions.
