OKLAHOMA CITY -- The weather outside was hardly frightful, which Oklahomans seemed to find delightful.

Warmer temperatures were just one more reason for Don Lowery to be happy on Christmas, as he played a round of free golf near Lake Hefner.

"You don't get this kind of weather very often," he said. "This year it's special because my wife is playing golf with me. It's a special deal."

Meanwhile at the nearby R/C Flying Site, Steve Rowell jumped at another opportunity to take one of his favorite toys out for a spin.

"In the retail business the last couple months you don't really have a chance to get out and do this stuff, so when the opportunity presents itself," you have to, he said as he flew his model airplane through a series of twists and turns. "We're just trying to get a little fun in this afternoon, you know, presents are all open. Better than just sitting on the couch watching football."

Robert Garton and his family decided to sit in the stands and watch the Oklahoma City Thunder play basketball instead.  From there, it was on to the Devon Outdoor Ice Rink , for some short-sleeved skating.

"We walked out of the game and thought 'this is unbelievable' for Oklahoma City," he said.

Not only is Garton thankful for some friendly weather, but he's happy to have his three kids together for the holidays.

"Life is good," he said, "and every day is Christmas."
