OCEAN BEACH, Calif. -- Officials say a man who was distracted by an electronic device fell to his death in California on Christmas.

San Diego Lifeguards told KSWB that a man in his 30s went to Sunset Cliffs in California to watch the sunset Friday night.

When the man had trouble finding parking at the popular ocean viewing site, he left his vehicle to find a parking spot.

Witnesses told officials the man was looking down at an electronic device, either a phone or a camera, when he fell over the cliff edge, falling 60 feet to his death.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Just like driving and using your cellphone, you don't want to be walking and using you cell phone," San Diego Lifeguard Sgt. Bill Bender told KWSB following the incident. "You don't want to be distracted by anything when you're in an area where you can be put at risk."
