Thunder Blow Past Nuggets 122-112
The Oklahoma City Thunder bounced back from their Christmas Day loss to beat the Denver Nuggets 122-112.
OKC trailed by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, but managed to turn up the heat in the third and fourth quarters.
Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 30 points, he notched 12 assists and narrowly missed a triple-double by one rebound.
Five Thunder players finished in double figures as the team shot nearly 58% from the field.
Kevin Durant dropped 26, Enes Kanter scored 21 off the bench, and Serge Ibaka put in 19 going an efficient 9 of 13 from the field.
Andre Roberson continued to grow on offense scoring 10.
Cameron Payne saw extended minutes in the contest doing a little bit of everything. He drilled two big three pointers with one coming late in the third and another early in the fourth. He finished with six points, four rebounds and a pair of assists in 12 minutes.
The Nuggets were effective early led by Kenneth Faried who poured in 25. Denver had five also finish in double figures and shot nearly 50% from the field.
With the win the Thunder still haven’t lost to a Western Conference team at home this season.
The Thunder continue their four game home stand on Tuesday when they square off with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks will be without head coach Jason Kidd who will miss the game after undergoing hip surgery.
