Sooners and Jayhawks Set for #1 vs. #2 Showdown in Lawrence

They once met for the national championship in 1988, and in 1990 played as the top two teams in the country in the Big  Eight Tournament.

Now Oklahoma and Kansas will meet again in men’s basketball as the top two teams in the nation.

In the latest polls out today, Kansas is number one in the Associated Press poll, while Oklahoma is second.

In the coaches poll, Oklahoma is number one, and Kansas is two.

Tipoff is 8:00 at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence.

Kansas won the ’88 title over OU at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, while the Sooners took the 1 vs. 2 matchup in 1990.

Oklahoma is 12-0 on the season after beating Iowa State on Saturday in Norman.

This is the 40th team in AP history the top two teams have met, and the eighth time two conference foes have met as the top two teams in the regular season.
