OKLAHOMA – The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office told NewsChannel 4 the importance of their militarized vehicles Thursday.

The department’s BearCat was shot at between four and seven times during a standoff in Yukon December 29th.

You can see where bullets punctured the bullet proof glass on the driver’s side door.

Right behind that door was an Oklahoma County deputy.

The sheriff said the vehicle saved his life.

The sheriff’s office has one BearCat.

It cost more than $230,000.

The sheriff said it was paid for with federal grants.

It’s estimated the damage from the bullets will cost around $6,000.

Despite the damage, the truck is still operable.
